It is very popular to make speed dating out to be a really big joke. Many people around the world go to speed dating to get together just for the sheer fun of it. However, many other people go to speed dating conventions to actually meet people. It is not a very open to discuss topic, as with any sort of non physical dating, like online dating, internet dating and speed dating. Not many people bring it up just out of the blue and even less people make the choice to tell their friends and family that they are doing speed dating to meet people. As said before, most people go to speed dating just to have fun, but you will find the serious speed dater or two among the lot.

Speed dating is really very easy to understand. You get either 2 minute, 3 minute or 5 minutes and in some places you will only get 30 seconds, to meet a person you might have something in common with. So you will, in some cases only have 30 second to find out if you have something in common with a certain person, and if you both agree you will swop telephone numbers and move on to the next person, or if you both really agree you will then go off to another area, where you can talk for a bit more and see if you will really be compatible. If you decide that you are compatible you will keep each others numbers and set up a longer date in the near future, if you do not feel comfortable after your longer discussion you can move back to your table, or you can move back in line and start the process again. It is that simple, there is really nothing to be ashamed of.

Statistically speed dating will be one of the safest ways to meet other people, as you get to know somebody in a huge crowed, and that way you are not in any danger of being raped, kidnapped ect… as many first dates end up according to statistics.
